Laura Mercier Setting Powder

Today I wanted to give some light to one of my favorite makeup products. I have been using this product constantly for almost two years now. It’s my all time favorite setting powder, the Laura Mercier Setting Powder. This translucent powder pairs well with the other makeup products in my routine to help add to a flawless natural face. I have purchased this setting powder 3 times. There is a reason I have bought so many times. I truly feel this is one of the best makeup products ever. Keep reading to see my overall thoughts on the Laura Mercier Setting Powder.

How I use: Once I have applied my primer and foundation, I use a beauty blender to apply the powder to my face. I let the powder stay on while I do my eyeshadow and mascara. If I am not doing any eyeshadow for the day or putting on mascara, then I will let the powder sit on my face for 5-10 mins, depending on how much extra time I have. Ideally, the longer the powder is ‘baking’ on your face, the better. Baking has many benefits for completing the process. My number one reason for baking and using the powder is to help control oil on my face. I  That essential takes me to my next point, oil control.

Oil Control: I have very oily skin! I am not kidding! I can wear no products on my face and my face will still be oily. Even if I have some beauty products on my skin, my face will still get oily. To prevent or minimize the oil I produce, I try and incorporate all oil free products in my makeup and skincare routines. The Laura Mercier Setting Powder is an oil free product! This is what instantly drew me to the product. The loose powder also provides natural coverage and has a matte finish to it. This is not a foundation powder, but a setting powder so providing coverage is not its top priority. However, the powder does provide a sheer coverage.

Long Lasting: Besides using this product for oil control, I also use it to help my makeup last and stay on for an extended amount of time. Having oily skin, sometimes I have to wipe or pat my face throughout the day. Even though I do this, I have found that my makeup stays on my face and still looks just as good as when I originally applied it. I do not use the Laura Mercier Velour Puff that comes with the product to apply the powder. To apply the powder onto my skin, I use a regular beauty blender then to buff the powder into my skin I use the Bareminerals Handy Buki Brush.

Color/Shade: Although this powder is essentially white, since it is translucent, it blends into any skin shade perfectly. Being a woman of color, I was hesitant at first that I would look cakey after using. I can say, this powder has never made me look cakey! It really does blend evenly into the skin. The powder does come in two different shades: Translucent & Translucent Medium Deep. I have not tired the Translucent Medium Deep shade because I really like the Translucent shade. However, after I finish this bottle of the powder, I may try the Translucent Medium Deep shade.

Price: The setting powder comes in two different sizes: a mini size and a standard size. The mini size is $23 and the standard size is priced at $38. I have purchased both sizes before and feel that you get your money’s worth! I know mini size products sometimes do not feel worth it for the price, however, I used the mini size Laura Mercier setting powder every time I did my makeup and it lasted me for a couple of months. I most recently upgraded to the full size and I can tell this container will last for a long time as well. Although it is an expensive product, it is worth it to have in your makeup collection!

Please let me know if the Laura Mercier Setting Powder is one of your makeup favorites! Or if you have another setting powder you love, please let me know!!

My Favorite Lip Products- Swatches

Screen Shot 2018-05-03 at 11.19.38 AM

Good Evening Makeup and Beauty Friends! Today I wanted to share my favorite lip products that I have been wearing on my lips recently. I wanted to include swatches of the products to really show how they look on. I tend to wear neutral colors on a daily basis, however, the last two products are my go to when I want to add to my look. I love all these colors and definitely would recommend to anyone. They all will pair well with any makeup look. Please leave some suggestions of your favorite lip products for me to check out!

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow- I was really hesitant at first to try this lip product. I normally only wear lipsticks and hardly wear lip gloss. I am not a fan of the stickiness that a lip gloss has. However, this lip product is a universal product. Meaning it is for everyone: any skin type or any skin tone. Since this is for everyone, I knew it had to be an overall good product. I decided to try and I love this lip gloss. The lip product is perfect for any occasion and any outfit. I can wear it just to the gym and even wear it to a nice dinner. I would definitely agree that it is very versatile and would look great on anyone!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London-NYX Lip Creams have been around for forever. I remember when I first started wearing different colors on my lips I tried out many shades from this line. This lip product has a very creamy formula that applies very evenly onto the lips then dries quickly to give a matte finish. NYX has an array of shades in this line to choose from. I wanted to go with a natural everyday shade and London is that perfect color!

MAC Lipstick in Whirl– This is my everyday lip product. It goes great with every outfit and matches well with any skin tone. The formula is very creamy and slides right on. This lipstick is very  buildable and can be formulated to how you like. The lipstick is so good, there is no need for a lipliner. However, MAC does have a lipliner in this color as well. I have never gotten so many compliments from one product before. Definitely recommend!

NARS Lip Pencil in Cruella– This is my all time favorite red lip product. I do not normally wear the color red on my lips. I’ll wear a red lip on a special occasion or with a simple outfit to add a pop of color. One thing I have noticed with red lip products is the they can be really messy. The NARS lip pencil is not messy at all. I am one to put on my makeup and not really take my time with it. I have a busy schedule so I have no time to make sure my lip product is applied perfect. With the lip pencil I can just easily put it on. It slides onto my lips with a perfect matte finish.

Buxom Lipstick in Vampy Plum-Venturing out with lip colors is something I do not do so often. I tend to use my everyday shades or get neutral colors. Besides the NARS red lip pencil, I use this purplish lip color. It’s a little hard to see the true purple color, however, this shade is beautiful on. Only con I have about the product, is its design. The lipstick is very big. At times when you apply it on the lips, it can get messy. However, the touch this lip product adds to the makeup look is worth it!

As you can see these shades are beautiful! Each has a unique color and a unique application, but all go well with any makeup look. Some of these products are a little pricer than others, but I will say they are worth it. They last a long time in size and on the lips. I can eat and drink and still expect the lip product to remain on.

Skincare Routine

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 8.45.32 PM

Good Evening Loves! Every year during the spring time I have previously done a skincare routine post explaining and sharing my current skincare products. This past year I have updated the products that I use in my routine. I have struggled with acne for a long time. During the past two years I finally found products to help me get rid of acne. Now I am in the stage where I am maintaining my acne free face. Unlike previous years where I used products specifically for acne, these new products are not related to just acne but improving and maintaining the skin in general.

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 8.47.29 PM

I have heard nothing but good things concerning the brand Cetaphil. My sister uses it and swears by it. Plus the reviews online are incredible. Before I buy any product I do countless research to make sure it fits my needs. I wanted a cleanser and moisturizer that would prevent me from acne and breakouts while also maintaining my oily skin. Cetaphil is brand where anyone can use. They cater to any skin tone or any skin type. You can get any of their products for normal, combination, or oily skin. They also have a selection of products for ‘All skin types’ which is the product line I decided to try out.

Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser– To start off, this product is very gentle on the skin. When I was using products for acne purposes, at times I would feel a burning sensation. I have yet to experience that with this cleanser. The cleanser is a clear gel base that can be use on the face & body. I’m going to say this is an overall great product for anyone. For me, it was not what I was really expecting. I have been using skincare products designed for acne, so naturally I could see a fast differences in my face  because I saw my acne dimensioning over time. With this product, it is very hard for me to see any difference at all. Now I am using this product to help maintain my skin in general. I’m sure the product is working, its just hard to see a difference. I wish I did not get the line that is for ‘All skin types’ but instead I wish I got the one for ‘oily skin’ because this has no effect good or bad for my oily skin.

Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizing Lotion– Unlike the cleanser, this has a lotion base to it. Just like the cleanser it is very gentle and not thick at all. One thing I love about the brand is that the products are fragrance free. Similar to the cleanser, it is for all skin types and is for everyday use. The moisturizing lotion really does feel like lotion, just a lot thiner. Before I was just using a normal moisturizer, but I do like the concept of the lotion. The lotion is grease free, however, since I have very oily skin, my face is still oily after using. At night I apply my african black soap and not my cleanser, however, even if I am not using the matching cleanser, I will still use this moisturizer.

Witch Hazel-We all know about witch hazel. It works wonders and can be used for a lot of things. I honestly never imagined I would be using it on my face in my skincare routine. I honestly can not go a day without using this product! I recently saw a lot of people on Twitter & Instagram talking about the benefits of witch hazel. Now I took their word for it and did not do any more research afterwards. I was very surprised to find that I would enjoy it as much as I do. Although witch hazel has very strong ingredients, it has been very gentle on my skin. Everyone can react to these strong ingredients differently, so be cautious. This product is for all skin types and can literally be bought anywhere.

Shea Moisture African Black Soap-This skincare product was on my list last year. At the time I really did not like this product. I used for a few weeks and decided to stop using all together. However, recently after doing some more research on the soap, I have added back into my skincare routine. First off I want to say this product sells amazing. One of the reasons why I use it is for the smell. Usually I hate smells in beauty products however, this is a smell that is not too much but noticeable at the same time. Black soap has many benefits including: relieves acne, clears blemishes, and normalizes oily skin. These are the main reason why I use african black soap. To my surprise I have noticed a difference in all of these areas. Only con to this soap is that although it helps to reduce oil, I have not seen a significant difference with my shine. I only use this product at night because after using it my face can tend to be a bit oily.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water–I no longer use makeup wipes thanks to this product. For the longest I hated using makeup wipes. I did not like the way they felt on my skin and at times I felt like my makeup wasn’t completely removed. The Micellar Water can be used for many ways. The #1 way I use is to remove my makeup. This helps to get rid of all the makeup on my skin. I also use it as a toner or even if I don’t wear makeup, it gets rid of the excess oil I have on my face throughout the day.

Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions Targeted Spot Treatment– About a year and a half ago my skincare routine consisted of all Burt’s Bees products. At the time I did not use this product, however I wish I did. I have already gone through 3 bottles of this product and have recently bought 2 more. Getting rid of dark spots is very tough and finding solutions is tougher. I haven’t tried many dark spot products before because I have not read any reviews on a product that has encouraged me to try. I will say this product is amazing in diminishing dark spots! Only con is that it takes a while to really see a difference. Maybe its because I have dark spots all over my skin and this is a skin concern I have dealt with for a while. This is a strong product that may not work for everyone, but overall is it a good working product.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray– After I have cleansed, moisturized, and use my other skincare products, I finish my face off with this spray. I have been using this product for less than a year and have already gone through 2 of these bottles. This is a hyped about product that is definitely worth it! I feel refreshed after every use. I use the spray morning and night after my skincare routine as an overall face mist. I do not think the product has a smell to it at all, however, some may think it does. Most of the beauty products I own in general are specifically for oily skin. This product is for all skin types. At first I was hesistant because I don’t use products that are not for oily skin. This product shocked me. It is truly for every skin type as it says. It actually works for all needs and that is what I like most. If you have been on the edge about trying this product I would definitely recommend.

The Perfect Red Lip

Good Afternoon Loves! Today I wanted to share my perfect red lip products . Red is a color that we all wear and some may see it as seductive or some see it as an everyday color. Depending on your skin shade or what color shade you like for a red to be, it can be hard to find the perfect red lip. Keep reading to see my two lip products that help me achieve the perfect red lip!

Screen Shot 2018-01-13 at 11.39.58 PM

The perfect red I have found that looks great on every skin tone is the NARS Lip Pencil in Cruella. I wanted to give this product some individual love because I really do believe it looks well on everyone! I have bought this product twice, the travel size and the full size versions. I normally only use lipsticks or lip glosses. This lip product is a lip pencil with a thicker tip. To my surprise, I actually like the application.

Screen Shot 2018-01-13 at 11.46.52 PM

If I am not using the NARS lip pencil then my alternative is the Clinique Cherry Pop Lipstick. This lip product is a little different than the NARS. For one it is a lipstick instead of a lip pencil. Also the colors are alike but different in their own way. The NARS is for sure a statement color while the Clinique lipstick can be settle but also give a bold look. Cherry Pop is a pinkish redish lip color. For some people a bold red like the NARS lip pencil can be too much or not their style. However, the Clinique lipstick also looks like a red but is very settle. One more difference between the two is that the NARS has a matte finish while the Clinique has a satin finish.

Now lets talk about price. The NARS lip pencil is $27 and the Clinique lipstick is 18.50. There is definitely a difference in price between the two. However, I truly love both colors and  believe that the price is worth the investment. You can find the NARS lip pencil at Sephora and the Clinique lipstick at both Sephora & Ulta.

Makeup Questions!

Good Evening Loves! One of my favorite things to do is to reflect on my makeup experiences. Girlytreasures allows me the opportunity to share what I love, which mainly is makeup! I gathered some questions below that I have either been asked or just simply wanted to share. Let me know some of your answers in the comments!

What skin type do you have? (Oily, dry, combo etc)

Definitely oily skin for sure! However, in the winter my skin becomes super dry and my entire body can become very dry as well. During the summer months I could definitely do without the oily skin. Other months of the year, its fine and I can control it. The past couple of months I have found all oil free makeup and skincare products to use on my skin.

How many times do you wash your face daily?

On a typical day I wash my face twice, morning and night. In the monrings I normally use a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. During the night if I don’t use my cleanser and moisturizer then I will do a face mask or use a cleansing soap.

Where do you buy your makeup usually?

Most of my makeup I buy from Sephora. Now that I’m thinking about it, I think all of my makeup has been bought from Sephora. I love buying from Sephora because they have a lot of brands to choose from, I get free samples, and I love their rewards system. I get my skincare products from Target.

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?

Yes of course! I am so glad that I am comfortable with my skin that I do not have to wear makeup 24/7. Also being in college, I do not always have time before class to do a full face. With my 8 am classes, I rarely will wear makeup.

What is your favorite eyeshadow palette?

The Too Faced Peach Palette without a doubt! This is my all time favorite palette. There are so many looks you can do with the palette: a simple look, a smokey eye, and even a cut crease! Only con I have about the palette is that there is no black inside. There is a dark green and a dark purple that I use instead, however, I would love a black for my smokey eyes!

What brand of mascara do you use?

I once used the Benefit They’re Real Mascara until I discovered the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. This is my everyday mascara and I absolutely love it. Honestly this mascara could be my favorite makeup product that I own! I cannot use any other mascara besides this one. I have to have volume & length with my mascara. The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara provides me with both!

Matte, liquid, gloss – which do you prefer?

My favorite matte lipstick is MAC’s Whirl lipstick and my favorite lip gloss is the Fenty Beauty Gloss bomb. I prefer lipsticks to any other lip product, however, I will use the Fenty Beauty Gloss bomb on an everyday occasion.

Who are your favorite Youtubers?

Aunty Jackie (Aina), thataylaa, Kyrah Stewart, Brooke Miccio, Danielle Carolan,

img_9587Do you use mineral makeup?

I do not use mineral makeup expect for my translucent setting powder.

What do you think of celebrity branded makeup?

I have only bought from Rihanna and so far I love her products! I truly feel that she works hard to find products for ever skin type and every skin tone. Although, I have not tried any Kylie Jenner products, I really want to try them. Although I want to try Kylie’s products, I do not want to try Kim’s.

What do you think about the pressure or hype around having the perfect eyebrow?

I honestly hate the whole eyebrow trend.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?

I hope to wear them more in 2018! I have some high end lashes and some from the drugstore. The one I bought from the drugstore I would wear on an everyday basis and some to classes. My higher end lashes from Sephora & MAC, I would wear when I am going out with friends or to a party.

In your opinion what is the best make up brand?

There is no one brand that I just love and that I go crazy whenever they release a new product. I will say that I recently I have been loving Too Faced! The quality of the products are worth the price and every product I have tired from the brand, I absolutely love and they become my favorites. In the future I hope to try products from their ‘Sweet Peach’ line.

Do you like colorful shades of makeup?

I am a more neutrals type of girl. If I use a colorful shade then I will use it on my lid while my crease color is more of a neutral.

What makeup tools do to use in your application?

  • Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki
  • Morphe m439
  • Real Techniques Buffing Brush

Pantene Hair Products

I haven’t done a deep, detailed product review in a long time. Most of the products I use, I have been using for a while. I am one to use the same products and repurchase them instead of always trying new items. Recently I decided that I wanted to try out new hair care products. I was using Cantu for a couple of months now and I absolutely love their hair products. There was no reason why I stopped using, I just wanted to try out a different brand. I will continue to use and support Cantu.

I was sent 3 hair care products from Pantene from their new line, “The Gold Series.” I have used Pantene for many years and love the brand. The brand is the only I know that caters and actually works for every hair type. The first 3 items below are the ones I was sent. At the time I was sent these products, I was using a hair salon shampoo & conditioner then I started using Cantu. I do not like to mix my hair care products. I decided I would wait until I finished the Cantu products to use these Pantene products. Little did I know the 3 products were not your usual shampoo & conditioner. I normally just use shampoo & conditioner. As I mentioned, I do not like mixing brands so I decided to go out and buy the Pantene shampoo & conditioner. I also picked up another styling product from the brand.  The Gold Series contains 8 products and it does include a traditional shampoo & conditioner.

The first 3 products are to “help protect hair and empower your personal styling.” Normally I only use shampoo and conditioner but I wanted to try out these styling products. Keep reading to see my thoughts on Pantene hair products .

Pantene Hydrating Co-Wash– My first thought of this product was that I would be able to use this as a shampoo & conditioner. In fact this is essentially what the product is for. I am not a fan of co wash products, because I honestly would just rather use shampoo & conditioner. I only use this product when I wear my hair curly and I am not straightening it. Recently I wore my hair curly for 3 weeks and did not straighten it for that period. I did not use shampoo & conditioner but instead used this co-wash a couple of times. First of all this smells so good! I typically do not care about smells but one of the reasons why I love this product, is because of its smell. This is a nice sized product and will last a while! Directions are included on the packing on how to use. I will only use this product if I am not straightening my hair. Overall this is a nice product and I do recommend, however, I can live without it.

Pantene Repairing Hair Mask– I never tried a hair mask before using this product. Although I have never previously tried a mask before, I was actually on the market for one. Hair mask are very strong products that take affect immediately. They’re not to be used often, but here and there to meet your hair needs. I remember using this product a while back and did not notice any difference. However, after using the most recent time, I could see it working! The concept of the mask it to repair your hair. The ingredients go in and work to fix the problems. The formula is amazing! It is similar to a shampoo or conditioner and not hard to use. You leave it on for 5-7 minutes then rinse. Overall its a very easy treatment that anyone can do.

Pantene Leave-On Detangling Milk-This is the one product I did not use as much as the others. There’s no reason why, I just didn’t see a need for it. The concept of the detangling milk is very interesting and I would definitely try. I am going to try and use this product more since it claims to help tame frizz. At times I have really frizzing hair and maybe this product could help.

Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Moisture Renewal Deep Conditioner– Out of all the products listed, this has to be my most used product & my favorite one. You can use this product once a week or even every day. For 3 weeks straight, I used every day. Only missing two days. I truly enjoy this product. You apply and leave it on for 3 minutes. I used while I was in the shower, so sometimes it was on for more than 3 minutes. I saw no damage from using it more than 3 minutes. The conditioner is,” for really dry, thirsty hair.” This did help my dry hair become more healthier. The formula is similar to shampoo & conditioner, however, just a little thicker. A little can definitely go a long way.  Although this product has the same packaging as the Gold Series, it is not included. The product is part of the Pro-V Series.

Pantene Full & Strong Shampoo & Conditioner– The brand has an array of shampoos & conditioners for every type and every hair need. Similar to the 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner, the Full & Strong Shampoo & Conditioner is part of the Pro-V Series. I decided to get the Full & Strong products because it claims to, “protect your strands against damage while achieving a full-looking head of hair.” My first thought of these products were that they would be similar to any other Pantene shampoo & conditioner that I have tried. I was never scared or nervous that they would damage my hair. When I used these products, I could instantly feel my hair getting stronger and I felt the ingredients  were already at work. I typically do not feel this immediate affect in a product. The products claim for a “natural fullness.” After I straightened my hair, my hair was in fact very full and healthy. I would 100% recommend the shampoo & conditioner.

2017 Makeup & Skincare Disappointments

I am so excited to soon be closing out the year. I wanted to continue my tradition of my Makeup & Skincare Favorites of the year blog post. Be on the look out for those 2 post. But before I share my favorites, I wanted to share some products that did not work out for me. I normally do research before I get any new product so I can be prepared and not have to return it. Although I did my research on these products, they just did not work out for me. Continue reading to see my product disappointments of the year & share yours in the comments!

Pixi Glow Tonic– I am honestly shocked that I did not like this product as much as I hoped. While doing my research, watching videos, and looking at reviews, I never came across someone who did not like this product. Everyone loved it, and I’ve never seen a product loved by so much. I decided to go ahead and give this product a try. I’m not really sure what I was expecting from this product, however I was quickly disappointed. For one, I felt like this Pixi product made my face even oiler than what it was. That was quickly a no! Secondly, the smell is terrible. Smells normally don’t bother me too much, however, this one is bad. Lastly,  I could not find a proper use for it. Although the product did not work out for me, I still have it and hope to find some use to it.

Makeup Forever Skin Equalizer Primer-This primer is a little more pricy than other primers I have tried. The formula may seem a little heavy, however, once you apply it onto the face, it feels like there’s nothing there. The first time I tried this primer, it literally dried my entire face and my face started to peel. I hated it. I really wanted to love this product since it controls oily skin. However, this primer was not for me at all.

Sephora Highlight Palette- I really didn’t know if I should put this on the list. I was so excited to get this product when it first came out. I got it 2 weeks after it was first released. Prior, I used eyeshadow as my highlight, so it was pretty exciting to get an actual highlight palette. When I first got this palette, I used it often. Honestly, I do not remember the last time I used it. I haven’t used a highlight in forever. Overall, this is a good highlight palette. I can’t really compare it to others, since it’s the only highlight palette I’ve ever used. The hype got me with this product. It was the overall hype but it didn’t really wow me. I honestly hope to use it more! Check out my blog post HERE for a more detailed review.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Concealer– I currently use the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation. I am obsessed with that foundation and love how much coverage it gives. I wanted to try the matching concealer and add it to my routine as well. From my research, I found that this concealer is very full coverage. When I first tried this product I hated it. The formula of the concealer and foundations are not alike. The concealer is very thick. As for the coverage, it is okay. I have honestly found better coverage in drugstore concealers. I also feel that this product dries my face out like crazy. It does have a matte finish, so this could contribute to it, especially if my face is not primed right.

Benefit POREfessional Products- Let me start off by saying I LOVE the POREFessional Primer. Ignore that the product is pictured. As for the other 2 products, I have no feeling whatsoever about them. I have actually never tried these products before. The two products are: Benefit POREfessional Matte Rescue & Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream. If these product were not included in the set, I would probably never buy. I have no use for eye creams or the mattifying gel.

Colourpop High Five Highlighter-I have been wanting to try a Coloupop highlighter for the longest. I normally wear highlighters that have brownish, goldish tones to them. I rarely wear a highlight with pink to it. When I first tried the highlight, I did not realize how pink it is. This instantly turned me off. I also am not a fan of highlighters that are very sparkly and have a lot of sparkles. Of course, this highlighter does. I am very disappointed in this highlighter. However, I am open to trying another Colourpop highlighter that has gold undertones and is not very sparkly.

What I Look For In a Foundation

Good Afternoon Everyone! Today I wanted to share the things that I look for in a foundation. I currently use two foundations constantly (the Tarte Amazonian Clay & the Bareminerals Bareskin). These two have a few similarities and also a few differences, but overall they have all the qualities I look for. I am currently thinking about getting a new foundation soon. This guide will help me determine which foundation on the market is best for me! Please leave any of your tips in the comments!

What I Look For In a Foundation:

1. Coverage – high medium to full coverage. This is #1 for a reason. I will only consider a foundation if it has the coverage I want. I have acne and a few troubled areas so whenever I do wear foundation, I want these areas to be somewhat covered. A lot of foundations claim to be medium to full coverage, but this is only the case if you apply a lot of the product. I only want to use a little bit of the product on my face, therefore I need a foundation that will give the coverage with a tiny bit of product. On Sephora & Ulta’s website, you can filter the foundations to the coverage you prefer. I would definitely  use these resources to help!

2. Variety of colors. Being a woman of color, there are some brands that do not have a product for my skin shade. With any foundation I get, I never want to have to mix colors together so it can match my skin tone. It is also important to me that I am giving my money to a company that believes in representing all skin shades.

3. Satin to Matte Finish – on me personally I like these finishes for my skin type. My everyday foundation, the Tarte Amazonian clay is a matte finish, whereas the Bareminerals one has a satin finish. I use to only prefer the matte finish, but I love the satin finish. The next foundation I get, I would like it to have a satin dewy finish, however, I am not giving up on matte foundations.

4. Long Wearing – has to last longer than 8 hours. One thing I do not do throughout the day is reapply or touch up my makeup. I just do not have the time, nor do I want to. Therefore, I need a foundation that will last me a full 8 hours and even longer. Although, the foundation may last that long, another benefit is if the foundation keeps the same coverage throughout. I know some days I am busier than others, so I may be sweating or have wiped my face several times. I am okay if the makeup does not look as perfect as before in these situations.

5. Not Cakey. I have acne prone skin and my faces gets very oily. Some foundations attach to my breakouts at times. Or other times, I may try and cover up a blemish by adding more product to the area. If the foundation is cakey, then you can definitely tell. Although, this may be hard to avoid, there are ways to prevent this.

Current Favorite Foundations:

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay
  • Bareminerals Bareskin
  • Covergirl Clean Matte
  • Clinique Beyond Perfecting  Foundation & Concealer

Brushes I use to apply my foundation:

My favorite three makeup brushes that I use to apply my foundations and powders are: the Real Techniques Buffing Brush, the Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush, and the Morphe m439 Brush. These brushes are very similar but have few differences. Overall each can be used to apply liquid foundations, powder foundations, and powders.

Milani Liquid Eye

I never wear eyeliner. This year alone, I have worn it twice and its almost half way through the year. I know its so crazy. There’s no particular reason that I do not wear eyeliner. Now I’m not the best at applying it, but I’m also not terrible. When I do wear it, I’ll do a simple line & wing. Nothing special or fancy. Lately, I’ve had a desire to want to wear it more. I decided that I would start and venture out to try new things. I ran to my local store and looked through the aisles of the store to find the perfect one. Normally before I buy makeup, I always do my research on the product. This time, I did no prior research and decided to go in blind. I picked up the Milani Liquid Eye Liner. Continue reading to see my thoughts on this liner.

I only use black liner. I feel it works best for my eyes. I like to use both gel liner and a pencil liner. Although this liner is pencil, it has a gel like formula. It glides onto the lid easily and smoothly. It looks like a liquid liner and you could never tell its a pencil. Sometimes when you apply with a pencil, it can easily be uneven. The Milani Liquid eye does not leave uneven patches. Besides the black, there is an array of liquid pencils to choose from including: brown, blue, gold, and purple. The black is very dark. When I use other brands, I always wish the color was darker. I did not find myself saying this when I used the Milani liner. This liner could definitely been worn for a long amount of time. No touch ups are necessary with this long lasting eye liner.

Too Faced Haul

I really can not believe I’m doing this post!! I also can not believe I actually brought these products!! After months of talking myself out of buying, I finally decided to buy some new products!! I have a few Too Faced products that I have only brought from Sephora. I have never directly ordered from the site. I decided to order from the Too Faced site directly so I could use Ebates. Ebates allows you to earn money from shopping online. I can earn money from both Sephora & Too Faced, however, I could earn more from Too Faced (that is why I decided to buy the products from their).  Continue reading to se what products I got & my review on them!!

IMG_1062To start off, the packaging itself was very nice. The outside of the box was very pretty and elegant. The shade of pink was very settling. When you open the box, the top of the box displays a cute little message. “You’re So Too Faced” is the cutest little saying & it goes with the brand. There was so much  pink confetti inside. I actually kept it to use for something else. I love how they used the confetti instead of tissue paper. The products inside were packaged so nicely, that I would never have to worry about buying anything from the site and being nervous that it would arrive damaged.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette– I have never been in the hype about any new eyeshadow palettes from any brand such as: Too Faced, Urban Decay’s Naked palettes, Morphe’s palette, or any other high brand eyeshadow palette.  I could never see myself spending that much for eyeshadow. I use to wear eyeshadow here and there. Recently I’ve been wanting to wear eyeshadow every time I do my makeup. Even if I don’t do a full look, I’ll just add a base color onto my lid. The eyeshadow palette I was using most before I brought this Peach Palette, was the Morphe 35k palette. I love the browns & oranges the palette has and have found that these colors go with any outfits. I decided I wanted my next palette to contain similar colors. Through countless amounts of research, I decided that the Too Faced Peach Palette was best for me!

The palette contains an array of colors. There are some palettes were you would wear most of the colors, but not use every single one. With this palette, I see myself wearing every shade. The color variation is a plus, but having some matte shades and also some shimmery shades attracted me most to the palette. I love how I can use a matte for my crease then add a shimmer color to the lid. From swatching the palette for the first time I was a little disappointed because I felt the shades were not very pigmented. However, when I applied the shadows to my eyelids, I was totally wrong. The colors are very pigmented and a little definitely goes a long way.

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara– This is a product that I have repurchased. I first bought the travel size of this mascara to see how I would like it . To my surprise I did. This isn’t my all time favorite mascara, but it is definitely one of my favorites! First of all the packaging of this product is beautiful!! I love the champagne frosted tube. A lot of Too Faced Products have that frosted feel to them that you don’t see too often with makeup products. This makes the product really nice and makes the quality worth the price. Only con I have about this mascara, which is why it is not my all time favorite, is because of the mascara wand. This gives amazing volume and length however, it is very hard to get into the inner lash because the brush is so thick. Whenever I try and get into the inner lash, I end up making a mess and getting mascara on my lid. To avoid this, I just use a different mascara with a thinner wand.

As you can see in the picture, I compared the full size to the travel size. Whenever I am unsure if I will truly like a product or not, I always start off with the travel size product. There are a few differences among the packaging of the two. The color is different and the writing of the product is also different. I would prefer the packaging to be the exact same so I do not have to question rather this is truly the exact same product. However, the formula seems to be the same and the wand as well.

Whenever you check out, you can choose 2 sample sized products. In my opinion Too Faced does not have a good sample selection. Firstly the size of the samples are not worth it. I could’ve done without and its hard to really get a good use out of the products. I’m very surprised at this because whenever I order from a beauty/makeup size (Sephora, Ulta, Urban Decay, etc.) the samples are always nice products and nice size. I am really happy to try these samples because I was planning on getting these two. However, I wasn’t really sure how I would actually like them. The Shadow Insurance is an overall great product with a good concept. It is anti-crease and helps your shadow last all day. However, the product is a little bit pricey, especially with alternatives cheaper. The Hangover Primer is a good primer that isn’t too thick to use. I am highly considering ordering the two !
