2017 Makeup Favorites

I can not believe the year is over. Where has time gone!! This year I have worked on finding my everyday makeup routine and I love it! Most of the products listed, I use every time I apply my makeup. Some of them are alternatives to my last year’s makeup favorites. Check out my 2016 Makeup Favorites HERE. All of the products listed I bought in 2017, however two of them I have repurchased a couple of times. Let me know some of your favorite makeup products you used in 2017. Of course, thank you for another great year!!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette– This is my favorite eyeshadow palette of all time!! I use the palette almost everyday. You can create so many looks with this palette. I normally use a black or a dark gray. However, this palette does not contain either of those colors. The dark green & the dark purple in this palette work as a great alternative! With this palette, I see myself wearing every shade. The color variation is a plus, but having some matte shades and also some shimmery shades attracted me most to the palette. I love how I can use a matte for my crease then add a shimmer color to the lid. The array of colors create for an everyday use or for a dramatic eye look.

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara– Another Too Faced fave! I can honestly say Too Faced was my favorite brand of the year without a doubt!! This is a product that I have repurchased. I first bought the travel size of this mascara to see how I would like it . To my surprise I did. I used the Benefit They’re Real Mascara for the longest. That mascara was my all time favorite that I used everyday. However, it got replaced by this mascara. The Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara gives me the volume and length that I need and love.

Bareminerals Bearskin Foundation– I rarely buy new foundations. Like never! I love to find a good foundation I can use for a while. I went to ULTA to get my makeup done one day, and the makeup artist used this foundation on me and recommended that I buy. I decided why not, since it looked and felt really nice on. The formula is a little more liquidy than what I’m use to. Typical matte foundations that I use are normally dry, this one however, is not at all. The finish of the Bareminerals foundation is very dewy. The foundation claims to be a medium coverage foundation. However, it does claim to be able to build up the coverage you desire. I would have to agree that the foundation can be light to full coverage depending on how much you apply. I definitely apply the foundation to be full coverage.

MAC Lipstick in Whirl– I have been eying this lip color for forever. I’ve always wonder how it would look on me. I decided to go ahead and buy. At first, I did not like this color at all. Fast forward and now this is my everyday lip color. It looks so good on and works for all skin shades. The lipstick is so good, there is no need for a lipliner. However, MAC does have a lipliner in this color as well.

Mineralize Skinfinish in Naturally Enhanced–I love how the bronzer has four different shades within itself. Depending on the look I am trying to accomplish, I can match it with one of the shades from the bronzer. However, most often I mix all the shades together on a typical day. Depending on how much you’re willing to pay for a bronzer, this one is more pricer than others. However, you get four bronze shades and it is definitely worth the price!

Urban Decay Setting Spray– This has made my list for many years now. The only setting spray I use is the Urban Decay Setting Spray. I have ordered this product 4 times! That is crazy. I have never repurchased a product that many times before. This setting spray is good. It helps for my makeup to stay on for an extended amount of time, while also controlling the oil and shine on my face.

Colourpop Concealers– I did not like these concealers for the longest. Recently, I noticed this is the only concealer I use. I bought 4 concealers because looking online I could not determine which shade would be best for me. In fact I was right. I got 4 colors that coordinate with each and are the same shade range. There is no concealer that matches me perfect, so I have to mix these concealers. This sucks, but I knew that this would be the case. That is why I got four. The colors I got are: Tan 50, Deep Tan 55, Deep Golden 60, and Rich Tan 65. My favorite thing about these concealers is the brush. The brush is like no other brush I’ve seen or used. It is similar to any concealer brush, small in size. But instead of being hard, the brush is soft and very flexible.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Buck-I have never tried Urban Decay shadows before. I have always been obsessed with their Naked Palettes and how beautiful those colors were. I finally got my hands on one of their single shadows. Shopping online for eyeshadow is very hard, because you can’t not get the real effect of the color. I looked at a lot of swatches and decided to get “Buck”. I really wanted to get this color because it looks like a really pigmented crease color. Crease colors are my favorite and this color would go well with any look. Buck can also be found  in Urban Decay’s Naked Palette. This is the only single eyeshadow I use!

Becca Soft Light Blurring Setting Powder– For the longest I used my Laura Mercier setting powder. I ran out of the product and decided to try out a new setting powder. The Becca powder comes in two shades. The shade I use is in ‘Golden Hour.’ Let me say that there is a lot of product in the packaging. It is taking me forever to get through it! Only con I have about this powder, is that it can be messy at times. When I apply it on my face, it falls out. Also at times it is hard to blend in. I will say these cons are small because the setting powder helps to set my face and control my oil throughout the day.

I bought all of these products online from Sephora, Ulta, Colourpop, Too Faced, MAC, and Urban Decay. I received CASH back on all of these purchases just from using EBATES. I even received coupons on Ebates to use at these makeup retailers. Sign up HERE and start receiving cash back on your purchases!

2017 Skincare Favorites

2017 has definitely been the year where I have renovated  my entire skincare routine. Towards the beginning of the year I ran out of my holy grail skincare products and decided to try out some new products. However, those last year holy grail products did make their way back on the list! Continue reading to see which skincare products were my favorite during the 2017 year. Also leave your favorites below!!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray– I recently did a Mario Badescu Haul. Check it out here. This spray is amazing! It works wonders without noticed. The smell is nice and not too distracting. I use the spray morning and night after my skincare routine as an overall face mist. I’ve seen many use it as a setting spray, however, I have not tried it as this use but may try it soon.  Most of the products I own are specifically for oily skin. This product is for all skin types. At first I was hesistant because I don’t use products that are not for oily skin. This product shocked me. It is truly for every skin type as it says. It actually works for all needs and that is what I like most.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water–I no longer use makeup wipes thanks to this product. For the longest I hated using makeup wipes. I did not like the way they felt on my skin and at times I felt like my makeup wasn’t completely removed. The Micellar Water can be used for many ways. The #1 way I use is to remove my makeup. This helps to get rid of all the makeup on my skin. I also use it as a toner or even if I don’t wear makeup, it gets rid of the excess oil I have on my face throughout the day.

Target Basic Cotton Rounds– To apply my Micellar Water, a toner, or any other liquid product to my face I use these cotton rounds. I prefer to use cottons rounds instead of cotton balls because sometimes when using cotton balls, the cotton sticks to my face. With the cotton rounds, this does not happen. There are many types of cotton rounds, however, the basic works great for me.

Garnier Blackhead Eliminating Scrub-One of my favorite youtubers suggested this scrub. Of course I did my research and decided that this would be a great scrub for me to try. My favorite thing about the scrub is that it is designed for oily skin while also meeting concerns for blackheads. The scrub is black with little white beads. The only con I have about this scrub is those little white beads. After I wash the mask off, some of the beads still remain on my faces. It’s very annoying, but the mask works wonders.

Shea Moisture African Black Soap– For the longest I did not like this product. It dried out my skin and I couldn’t see any results. I recently went back and started using this product more often and I love it. For one, this soap smells so good! I normally do not like smells in products, however, this leaves my face smelling so good. Sometimes I’ll use just for the smell.

Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser-After using my Neutrogena cleanser, I decided to grab the Burt’s Bees one next. Overall, this product worked great. I did not see as fast results as when I used the Neutrogena products. However, I felt like this cleanser was more natural and did not contain harmful products. Plus the size is pretty big and will last a while.

Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions Daily Moisturizer– I honestly loved the packaging of the bottle. The bottle is glass and contains a pump. The moisturizer is a nice natural product. A little can go a long way, plus the moisturizer last for a while. This Burt’s Bees moisturizer is available in many different concerns: renewal, acne solutions, and dry lotion.

My favorite tool to apply my skincare product with is the Conair Facial Scrub Brush. I normally only apply mask and the african black soap with this brush. When I first got the brush, I used it all the time. I still use it, just not as often.

Neutrogena Skincare Products- I have been using these skincare products since 2015!! These products I swear by and at one point helped to improve my skin. After I used up these products, I decided to venture out to new products (most of the products above). However, I noticed nothing improved my skin quicker or better than the Neutrogena products. In addition to the current products I am using, I decided to go back to these products. If you have acne or troubled skin, I recommend these products! Although, my acne is not as bad as before, these products help to maintain that.

2017 Makeup & Skincare Disappointments

I am so excited to soon be closing out the year. I wanted to continue my tradition of my Makeup & Skincare Favorites of the year blog post. Be on the look out for those 2 post. But before I share my favorites, I wanted to share some products that did not work out for me. I normally do research before I get any new product so I can be prepared and not have to return it. Although I did my research on these products, they just did not work out for me. Continue reading to see my product disappointments of the year & share yours in the comments!

Pixi Glow Tonic– I am honestly shocked that I did not like this product as much as I hoped. While doing my research, watching videos, and looking at reviews, I never came across someone who did not like this product. Everyone loved it, and I’ve never seen a product loved by so much. I decided to go ahead and give this product a try. I’m not really sure what I was expecting from this product, however I was quickly disappointed. For one, I felt like this Pixi product made my face even oiler than what it was. That was quickly a no! Secondly, the smell is terrible. Smells normally don’t bother me too much, however, this one is bad. Lastly,  I could not find a proper use for it. Although the product did not work out for me, I still have it and hope to find some use to it.

Makeup Forever Skin Equalizer Primer-This primer is a little more pricy than other primers I have tried. The formula may seem a little heavy, however, once you apply it onto the face, it feels like there’s nothing there. The first time I tried this primer, it literally dried my entire face and my face started to peel. I hated it. I really wanted to love this product since it controls oily skin. However, this primer was not for me at all.

Sephora Highlight Palette- I really didn’t know if I should put this on the list. I was so excited to get this product when it first came out. I got it 2 weeks after it was first released. Prior, I used eyeshadow as my highlight, so it was pretty exciting to get an actual highlight palette. When I first got this palette, I used it often. Honestly, I do not remember the last time I used it. I haven’t used a highlight in forever. Overall, this is a good highlight palette. I can’t really compare it to others, since it’s the only highlight palette I’ve ever used. The hype got me with this product. It was the overall hype but it didn’t really wow me. I honestly hope to use it more! Check out my blog post HERE for a more detailed review.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Concealer– I currently use the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation. I am obsessed with that foundation and love how much coverage it gives. I wanted to try the matching concealer and add it to my routine as well. From my research, I found that this concealer is very full coverage. When I first tried this product I hated it. The formula of the concealer and foundations are not alike. The concealer is very thick. As for the coverage, it is okay. I have honestly found better coverage in drugstore concealers. I also feel that this product dries my face out like crazy. It does have a matte finish, so this could contribute to it, especially if my face is not primed right.

Benefit POREfessional Products- Let me start off by saying I LOVE the POREFessional Primer. Ignore that the product is pictured. As for the other 2 products, I have no feeling whatsoever about them. I have actually never tried these products before. The two products are: Benefit POREfessional Matte Rescue & Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream. If these product were not included in the set, I would probably never buy. I have no use for eye creams or the mattifying gel.

Colourpop High Five Highlighter-I have been wanting to try a Coloupop highlighter for the longest. I normally wear highlighters that have brownish, goldish tones to them. I rarely wear a highlight with pink to it. When I first tried the highlight, I did not realize how pink it is. This instantly turned me off. I also am not a fan of highlighters that are very sparkly and have a lot of sparkles. Of course, this highlighter does. I am very disappointed in this highlighter. However, I am open to trying another Colourpop highlighter that has gold undertones and is not very sparkly.

Favorite Apps on my phone

Pintrest-I love this app! This app is my creative side and allows me to get new ideas. I love scrolling through the app and noticing something that I love or want and I actually get it. If you ever need ideas on how to organize something or how to pair an outfit, Pinterest is the app! Make sure to follow me on Pinterest @girly treasures

Starbucks & Dunkin Donuts- I love using these coffee apps. I am able to use my phone as my credit card. I pull up the app, which has my card loaded, and the barista scans my phone. This makes the process much faster and gets me closer to my coffee! The rewards on these apps get me free coffee!! So of course I have to include them on my favorites.

Cash-This app allows you to safely transfer money to anyone without the hassle of exchanging bank account information. There’s so many apps out there that also do this, however, the benefits of this app outways the others. First this app is free to use and it is also free to deposit the money into your account. It only takes a couple of days to deposit, but if you do want to deposit sooner, you can pay a small fee. My favorite thing about the app is that you don’t need anyone’s bank information, you just search for their username. If you don’t have a bank card, then the app gives you one to use! Apple Music-I love listening to music. I never thought I would ever pay for a music subscription and actually use it. Apple music is definitely worth the investment!! I listen to music on the app everyday. Since, I am a student I also get a discount on my subscription. This is by far the best music app out!

Twitter-I never thought about which social media app is my favorite. Recently I have noticed that I am constantly on Twitter. I think its my favorite! I love twitter so much. I love how fast you can get an update on any media coverage. Plus some tweets are very relatable to my life and I love knowing someone else feels the same way. Make sure to follow me on Twitter @kamilanicolexx

Instagram- Instagram is definitely a classic. You can never go wrong with it. Even though I rarely get on like I use to, I still check the app a couple of times a day. I love seeing people’s pictures and what they’re doing in their lives. Make sure to follow me on Instagram @kamilanicolex

Mercari & Poshmark- Are apps that I use to make money by selling my clothes, shoes, and accessories. I like beingFullSizeRender (6) able to control and interact with people with my personal items. I can better explain to them or ask them questions personally. Th vibe on these apps is amazing and everyoIMG_7519ne is so friendly. Each app has an advantage over the other. The only bad thing is that postmark takes 20% of what you make which can be lot for listing priced low. However Mercari takes 10% of your earnings. But when it comes to shipping, Poshmark has a flat rate of $6.99 on every order where as Mercari has different prices for different sized items. But both sites are amazing and I have earned money from both.

 Sign up w/my referral code:
Posmark & get $5: BYHER
                                               Mercari & get $2:Kev986

1010-We all have at least one game on our phones. Some of us have more than one. I only have one game that I play all the time. I love 1010 so much! This game is similar to tetris but better! I am constantly trying to beat my high score. This is such a relaxing game that whenever I am upset or in a mood, I’ll just play it and the game puts me in a better mood. If you have any games you love, let me know so I can check them out.
